The Early Years
The Jackson 5 continued to be a worldwide phenom. The 1970s have proven to be the best years of their lives. The year included performances at the Miss Black American Pageant, the singing of The National Anthem at the World Series, and the appearance on the cover of Soul Magazine.
1970
In January of 1970, the Jackson 5 hit, "I Want You Back", from the "Diana Ross Presents: The Jackson 5" album, released December 1969, reached the top of the charts. Later that year, the Jackson 5 performed on American Bandstand singing "ABC". In February, The "ABC" single was released on vinyl (45rpm) along with its B Side recording of "The Young Folks".

In April, "ABC" hit to hit the top of the charts. The "ABC" album portion was released the next month.
In May 1970, The Jackson 5 performed for the first time on the Motown label at the Philadelphia Civic Center. The group also performed at the Los Angeles Forum. In June, "The Love You Save May Be Your Own" hit the top of the charts.
The "Third Album" was released in September and the song "I'll Be There" hit the top of the charts in October. During that time, "The Jackson 5 Christmas Album" was released.
The Jackson 5 became the only group to have the first four records to hit number one.
Concert performances were at the Boston Garden, New York's Madison Square Garden, and Detroit's Olympia Stadium. The group appeared on the cover of Soul Magazine and performed "The Star Spangled Banner" at the World Series at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio.

1971
In 1971, Jackson-mania swept the country. There were numerous concert performances at different cities. The Jackson 5 had appeared on magazine covers such as Right On!, Creem, and Ebony. There were book promotions, awards, TV shows appearances, and interviews.
In April of 1971, the album, "Maybe Tomorrow", was released. In September, the animated series The Jackson 5 was aired on television. The cartoon was based on the "Goin' Back To Indiana" album.

1972
Jackson-mania continued in 1972 which included the group receiving the NAACP Image Award for Male Vocal Group of the Year and a tour to England to perform a concert for the Queen at the Liverpool Empire Theater. The Jackson 5 broke the attendance record set by the Beatles at the theater.
In January of 1972, international tours and more concerts added. One of the concerts was to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday where the group performed with the Supremes in City Auditorium, Atlanta, Georgia. The Jackson 5 was commended for being role models for the youth. The album "Lookin' Through the Window" was released that year.
They performed at Hellzapoppin (Broadway Musical Revue) singing "Sugar Daddy" and "Got To Be There".

1973
In 1973, The Jackson 5 international tours continue. Included were trips to Japan and Australia. More U.S. tours continued. Many show appearances included ones like the Dick Cavett Show and Soul Train.
In September of 1973 the disco-like album "Git it together was released. The Jackson 5 pop song "Skywriter" hit #25 in the U.K. charts and #44 in the US charts, but the single was never released in the U.S.

1974
In 1974, the Disco era was booming. "Dancing Machine" due to its success on the Get It Together Album, was released as a remix The song hit #1 on the R&B charts and #2 on the U.S. Pop Charts. More U.S. and international tours continued. An international tour included a trip to Dakar, Senegal in Western Africa
More show appearances included hosts like Flip Wilson, Bob Hope, Sony and Cher, Carol Burnett, and Johnny Carson.
There was a trip to Disneyland, performances at The Grammy Awards, and The MDA Telethon hosted by Jerry Lewis. A show in Las Vegas, included siblings Latoya, Randy, and Janet joining in on the group.
